Results are theoretical, based on nominal dimensions and average series density. Actual delivered weight varies with tolerances and alloy — your quotation states the commercial weight that applies.

Why density depends on the alloy
Pure aluminum weighs 2.70 g/cm³ — but alloying elements shift it. Copper and zinc make 2000/7000-series heavier; magnesium makes 5000-series lighter. Over a truckload, the difference is real money in freight.
| Series | Main alloying element | Typical density | Program examples (EN AW-) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1000 | ≥ 99% aluminum | 2.71 g/cm³ | 1050A, 1100, 1200 |
| 2000 | Copper | 2.78 g/cm³ | 2011, 2024 |
| 3000 | Manganese | 2.73 g/cm³ | 3003, 3105 |
| 5000 | Magnesium | 2.66 g/cm³ | 5052, 5083, 5754 |
| 6000 | Magnesium + silicon | 2.70 g/cm³ | 6060, 6061, 6082 |
| 7000 | Zinc | 2.81 g/cm³ | 7020, 7075 |
